HC Driver

Reference: BSHC
Listing Date: Friday, May 22, 2020
Location: Sydney
Salary: $34.38hr + Super - Large Hours/OT/Allowances
Work Type: Casual/Vacation

  • View to permanency, some overtime, some overnight work
  • Eastern Creek ** IMMEDIATE START REQUIRED **
  • Mix of local and out of area driving, Monday to Friday

The opportunity:

Our client, a growing company based in Eastern Creek, is a well-established manufacturer of metal products. They deliver their products all across the country, primarily through their own fleet of trucks and trailers. An opportunity has arisen for an experienced HC or MC licenced Driver to join their team in a role that involves a mix of local and interstate work.

Reporting to the Transport Manager, you'll be responsible for transporting loads locally or interstate (primarily local trips initially), working up to 12/14 hours per day Monday to Friday in well-maintained trucks. Whilst you won't load your truck/trailer, you will be responsible for checking your load, that it is restrained properly and within weight limits. You will be allocated various runs throughout the week, each of which will include a number of drops, and could potentially take you out of the area. Unloading is usually performed by your customers on-site.

Your reward:

You will be paid $34.38 per hour for ordinary hours, and overtime rates for all overtime worked. You'll also be paid for any waiting time, and an overnight allowance of $70 applies should you work overnight (sleeper cab).

This role will usually involve early starts (not always though) and you'll sometimes max out your hours. The company is mass, maintenance and fatigue managed and they will expect you to work safely and to a high standard. You'll be interacting with customers and we're looking for experienced, professional drivers with semi-trailer experience.

You'll need:

To secure this role you'll need as a minimum:

  • The capacity to start immediately. Please don't apply if you can't.
  • A current Australian HC driver's license (or higher category)
  • At least 3 years experience driving prime mover and trailer combinations
  • Solid load restraint skills including experience with both straps and chains
  • Availability for shifts of all hours
  • The willingness to drive both locally and interstate, staying away from home when needed
  • A demonstrated track record of reliability and a stable work history
  • A good driving record (will need to be provided)
  • At least three checkable work references
  • The ability to pass a drug and alcohol test

If you feel you're suited to this opportunity and you meet all the listed requirements, we'd love to chat with you.
